Lyocell is a manmade fiber derived from naturally regenerated cellulose, produced through an environmentally friendly process that eliminates toxic chemicals and significantly reduces air and water emissions. It is made from traceable wood pulp sourced from FSC-certified farms located on land unsuitable for food cultivation or grazing.
Lyocell is derived from fast-growing eucalyptus or bamboo trees that require no irrigation or pesticides. Its production uses a closed-loop system that recycles up to 99% of the water and solvents involved, making it more eco-friendly than cotton. Additionally, the manufacturing process does not require bleach. Lyocell fibers are also stronger than viscose in both dry and wet conditions. A similar fiber, SeaCell, is made from seaweed and sea algae.
